Stella McCartney Gem-Embellished Clutch

First of all, I’d like to wish all of you mothers out there the happiest of Mother’s Day! I always tell my mom and grandma how I think being a mother is the most important and difficult job out there. I hope that I show my mom how much she means to me on a daily basis, but I love giving her a little more love an attention on a day dedicated to her! So, when it comes to Mother’s Day, you don’t have to spend oodles of cash - it is the thought that counts. But, I am sure it comes as no surprise to you that a new handbag for mom is always in the back of my mind.

The Stella McCartney Gem-Embellished Clutch is my handbag pick for this Mother’s Day! The champagne twill clutch boasts silver-tone hardware and multicolored gem embellishments. The fold-over flap on front opens to show you contrasting taupe satin lining. The embellishments are soft, feminine and gorgeous. One of the best parts of this clutch? It doesn’t look too much like a gift made just for Mother’s Day

Judith Leiber In the Wild Clutch

We all know that my taste can be, at times, questionable. Loose. On the tacky side. I like loud bags in general, probably because I wear so much freakin’ black and grey (even in the summer). Without a statement bag, I feel a little naked or under-dressed. Formal occasions are no exception - not that I have many formal occasions. Or any at all. But if I did, I’d surely want to carry some sort of ridiculous, bling-tastic, over-the-top, questionably tasteful super luxe evening bag. Which is exactly what the Judith Leiber In the Wild Clutch is.

Because you see, my dears, it’s not just super sparkly. It’s super sparkly AND animal-print. At the same time. And that’s a stroke of quasi-tacky genius for which only the folks at Leiber, the home of the bedazzled watermelon bag, could be responsible. It’s combination of two of the tackiest bag idea inspires me to continue to find the awesomeness in all things moderately distasteful, and since I’m not cool enough to have anyplace to take it, I sort of want to have one just to sit it on top of my TV and admire it’s twinkling, zebra-ish glory

Louis Vuitton Mini Lin Croisette

Welcome to a slightly delayed Edition of Tuesdays with Twiggers! Cruise season is officially upon us! Although if you are like me you are merely thinking of turkey dinner and trying to finish up your holiday shopping. However, the idea of taking off on a cruise to a faraway island and leaving the husband to finish his own holiday shopping, decorate the tree, hang the decorations, and cook the Christmas dinner (all while toting a fabulous new Louis Vuitton bag) somehow appeals to me! The cruise season also makes me think of sun and fun…and the dreary Midwest is not going to be providing any of that for at least another 5-6 months!
Even though I’m not escaping to any distant islands this year, Louis Vuitton has still released some beautiful new bags that will help get me through the dreary winter months. The new Mini Lin Croisette line was released on November 1 and contains a great selection of handbags and accessories sure to please everyone. The Mini Lin Croisette is a variation of the traditional Mini Lin line, part of the permanent collection; however, for the cruise collection the bags now come in two new colors, red and blue, and are subtly striped. When I picture red and white stripes I automatically think of candy canes, but not so with these new bags! The bags are trimmed in a gorgeous white pebbled leather. I am very impressed with this new collection and am curious to find out what you think too!

Louis Vuitton Monogram Mini Sac

The shape is that of the Speedy, yet this mini bag packs a small yet cute punch! The Louis Vuitton Monogram Mini Sac features petite measurements, 6″x 4″x 3″, which make it a great evening bag, accessory bag, or bag for a youngster. While splurging for your little one, price is very important, to keep your little one lucky while not completely spoiled and indulged. It of course is all relative, as many who do not love handbags would never spend $375 on them self for a bag let alone on their child. I have seen many pictures of toddlers with this handbag, toting it around looking like a fashionista in the making. And I am sure some of you will hate the idea of giving a designer handbag to a three year old, but I am certain when I have a little girl she will be toting this bag around too. The monogram canvas is trimmed with natural cowhide and there are two rolled leather handles.

Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Key and Change Holder

enjoy giving gifts more than I do receiving gifts for the simple fact that putting a smile on someone’s face is priceless. I can not lie, receiving great gifts has me smiling ear to ear also, but shopping for the perfect gift for my family and friends is priceless (and ultimately frustrating at times!). For those who want to give something designer but don’t want to spend exorbitant amounts, stick with an accessory. A designer accessory shows that you want them to have something luxurious, shows them you thought about them, and can stay within your price range. I love the idea of giving the Louis Vuitton Monogram Canvas Key and Change Holder which is a Louis Vuitton staple item. The key clasp attaches to the mini (4.5″ x 2.5″) monogram canvas pouch. The lining is grained leather and there is a zipper closure. This is perfect to go with your car keys and carry a credit card and ID when you are running errands

Louis Vuitton Utah Leather Kiowa Tote

As we continue traveling, we continue shopping for a new travel bag. Vlad and I were tempted by a 50 cm Hermes Haut A Courroie (HAC), but it was just too big, yet his current messenger is just too small. We are like Goldilocks, we need something just right. I am waiting for a 40 cm Birkin, which will be the best option for me when it comes to a travel Birkin and Vlad is stumped. He needs a better carry-on bag for all of the traveling we do. We popped into Louis Vuitton Cologne and saw a great looking tote. For me, it was not a bag that I wanted him or I to leave with, but it is a great everyday bag nonetheless. The SA at Louis Vuitton said it is unisex, though I find it to be very masculine. The Louis Vuitton Utah Leather Kiowa Tote is designed with sturdy, yet supple hand-grained Utah calf leather and sports straps down the front of the bag. I am not blown away by this handbag, it is rather simple, but when it comes to giving a man a handbag, simple usually is the best route. The hardware is polished but is aged brass, so it is not too shiny for the man that does not care to draw attention to his man bag. It is always a plus to have a zip top closure, and the inside features a flat pocket and a cell phone pocket. Dimensions are still too small for a 17″ computer, but will fit the average laptop, 16.4″x 12.9″x 5.85″. I like it, I don’t love it, and I am waiting for another Birkin

Louis Vuitton Taiga iPhone Case

Vlad is not an advocate of buying generation one electronics. Something about blah blah blah generation two is better. I kept trying to pretend I agreed with him and was waiting out the iPhone because of slower connection or some other blah blah blah issue, but my parents thought it was a great Christmas gift, and let me tell you I could not be more thrilled! The only issue is the fingerprints that smudge all over the screen, the rest of the iPhone is brilliant. Sure, the internet connection is no where near as fast as the 3G connection that our business phone has, but it gets the job done and looks beyond sleek and cool doing it. When toting a sleek phone like this, the case must be just as chic! The Louis Vuitton Taiga iPhone Case is a perfect slip on slim case for the iPhone. There is a notch at the top of the case for extra protection and there is a clip on the back which means this can be carried on your belt. I would never carry this on my belt, but that is just me. The inside is lined in microfiber, which will cushion the phone perfectly.

Louis Vuitton Damier Berkeley

The Speedy is undoubtedly the quintessential Louis Vuitton bag. I doubt that many LV lovers never owned one to begin their obsession with the fine brand. One downside of it to many is that is lacks structure. No matter how much you load in the Speedy, it sags to the ground, unwilling to hold its fine form. To friends of the Speedy, there is now a slightly flashier sibling called the Louis Vuitton Damier Berkeley. Its name is derived from a chic London neighborhood, the Berkeley Square. The materials are common to other Damier canvas bags, smooth leather trim, a red micro suede lining and a golden “Louis Vuitton Inventeur” plaque on the front complete the picture. Its handles are adjustable in length, two side outside pockets offer additional storage room for cellphone or keys. With 12.4″ in width, it is only .4 inches wider than the Speedy and .7 inches taller. Granted, at $1,420 it is twice as expensive as the Damier Speedy, I still think that this bag will capture a large following among LV enthusiasts. Available in Damier or Damier Azure.

Louis Vuitton Suhali Agenda

I suppose the reason I am pleasantly surprised by the price of this agenda is because I own a Hermes Globe Trotter Agenda as does Vlad. Available in gold and white Suhali goat leather, the Louis Vuitton Suhali Agenda is the perfect carry around size, 4.1″x 5.6″, with a very sophisticated polish look. The inside of the agenda is also lined in leather and the golden brass hardware really gives a great touch to the agenda. And there is a feeling reminiscent of Louis Vuitton trunks, with their snapped flap closure, corners, and LV stamping around the perimeter. The inside also has two interior pockets. While my Hermes agenda is a zip agenda, this is just a snap closure. It makes it easy to fling open to write something important down, like, say, ‘Spa for massage on the 12 at 11 am’. You know, something very important

Louis Vuitton Aquarelle Speedy

always try to be on top of the latest release and the newest bags. But I must say, the members of the Purse Forum are always a step ahead when it comes to Louis Vuitton. If there is a super secret bag about to be released, they know before Marc Jacobs even designs it. My level of exaggeration is only small. When I first saw a sneak peak of the Louis Vuitton Watercolor Speedy I knew I had to have it!!

But there was this problem, called a wait list. A long a tiresome wait list. A time line that was uncertain about when the bag would arrive and who would be able to get their hands on it. Luckily, I know the best staff of Louis Vuitton sale associates from LV Bal Harbour, who secured me a spot and had my Watercolor Speedy ready for me with the first shipment. Can I tell you that I love this bag? I am in LVOE with it! I am now back in South Florida and this bag could not be more perfect even if I asked it to be. The colors are perfection; light and whimsical.

And if you kept waiting and are not near and LV store and thought you would never gets your hands on this bag, I have good news. eLuxury is now carrying the Louis Vuitton Aquarelle Speedy 35 (as we call it the Watercolor). I assure you that the bag will not be there very long, in fact I would not be surprised if by the time I publish this post it is gone.

Louis Vuitton Suhali Clutch

Louis Vuitton may be known for their monogram but their logo free designs lure in many LV lovers worldwide. Between the Epi Line and the Suhali Line, Louis Vuitton is able to reach out to those who yearn for a designer bag from a top house without the logo being splashed on. The Louis Vuitton Epi line has an array of bags under the $1,000 mark. but the goat leather of the Suhali line makes the prices jump a bit. But if you are looking for a stunning handbag from Louis Vuitton, the Suhali line is it. For a more entry level item (and lower price), the Louis Vuitton Suhali Clutch is a great start. This is not the clutch to take to the college town bar, though you can, rather it is the timeless elegant clutch that can be used year after year. The Suhali goat leather is hand selected and used in this clutch to resemble the curved shape of the well-known LV Lockit. The leather is soft yet sturdy and offset with golden brass hardware. There is a removable and adjustable wrist strap, which is always a major plus. Dimensions are great, measuring 9.4″x 5.1″x 1.8″. This is a clutch that I would recommend to anyone looking for a leather clutch that works for nearly all occasions and all clothing options.

Louis Vuitton Epi Leather Bowling Montaigne

In the South, were a little weird about college football. If any of you grew up or went to college south of the Mason-Dixon line, youre already aware of this phenomenon. Not only do our college teams garner much more ardent support than any of our professional teams, but people devote themselves to their Alma maters with an emotional vigor that is rare to find elsewhere in all of sports.
So whats this got to do with handbags, you say? Well, today is opening day of the 2008 college football season, and although most of the games arent until Saturday, a few will be televised tonight and kick off (literally) the happiest 12 weeks of the year for this sports fan. Not only that, but this time of year brings about an odd dressing conundrum for all female football fans that support schools in the South.
Because here, you cant just wear *anything* to a game. We dress up for football like some people dress up for church - and we do it in our teams colors. Some schools (particularly those where orange figures prominently, bleh) have a harder time of it than others, and I like to think that my school chose wisely. I am an alumni of The University of Georgia, and our colors are red and black. Ive bought an untold number of dresses, pairs of shoes, and pieces of jewelry in red and black, thinking, Great! I can wear this on game day! In reality, there are only 6 or 7 home games per year, and I have more sundresses and red jewelry than I could ever hope to wear to them.

Louis Vuitton Damier Neverfull

I’ll freely admit that I don’t know exactly when the Louis Vuitton Damier Neverfull came out. I remember it was still hotly anticipated the last time that I wrote about a Neverfull (the beautiful crocodile version!), and sometime between then and now, it showed up on eLuxury as a new arrival. And you know what? I love it. It’s not as obvious as Louis Vuitton’s monogram version, but it’s still insanely practical, simple, and chic. It’s a big that can be used year-round for years to come, and in an uncertain economy, longevity of a bag’s design is something that’s on the minds of more and more people. We all know that Vuitton’s canvas wears like few other materials, and a bicolor material like Damier can be paired with a variety of clothing choices. For maximum versatility, I’d go with the MM - not too big, not too small, perfect for lots of uses.

Louis Vuitton Card Deck Set

, we’ve done it. I think. Maybe I’m being optimistic. But, with the advent of the Louis Vuitton Card Deck Set, I think it may be possible for someone with enough money and enough dedication to go through their entire day without deigning to use a product that’s not luxury branded. We’ve covered Chanel and Hermes bicycles, Gucci makes wallpaper, Fendi makes bedding, Versace makes furniture. And now, your husband won’t just be playing poker with the guys, he’ll be playing Louis Vuitton poker. And that won’t get him made fun of by his buddies AT ALL, I promise.
Eluxury promises that this set includes three “luxurious” decks of cards, so please, help me brainstorm in the comments - exactly how does one make playing cards luxurious? The first thing that came to my mind was having the symbols ever so carefully covered in close-cropped mink, making them slightly furry. How would you do it?

Christian Louboutin Mount Street Bag

I’ve come to a conclusion folks, I am constantly intrigued by Christian Louboutin handbags. It goes practically without saying, Louboutin shoes are gorgeous, chic, and often considered a must-have from any shoe lover. Well, what about the handbags? There are some out there who dismiss Louboutin handbags because they are over-priced and nowhere near as fabulous as the shoes.

Well, I beg to differ. Are the handbags pricey? Yes. But do they offer a sense of uniqueness and flare? YES! This is what keeps me wanting to see more. The Christian Louboutin Mount Street Bag is no different. Whether you like the bag or not, the fuchsia satin with a ruffle petal finish will grab just about anyone’s eye. I love the signature shoe fastening top; it is a clever way to incorporate the two worlds. Pair it with your favorite Little Black Dress or even a pair of jeans and a crisp white top and you have a hit! Let this bag be the focal point of your ensemble and you are bound to be noticed.

Chloe Sally Bag

We’ve already talking about the Chloe Sally Bag in it’s original incarnation a little over a month ago, and you ladies seemed intrigued by it’s simple design and clean lines. Because of that, I couldn’t resist the urge to show you the runway version of the bag: the Chloe Sally Bag in Safari Print. Some people like pattern bags, some don’t. I do, but I’m not sure I’d pay this price for one. Despite the price, though, I think the bag is really well-executed.

The pattern is large enough and contains a small enough amount of colors that it would still be wearable with a number of outfits and colors, and the colors of the bag are attractive in their own right. The bag’s flap is made of Ayers snakeskin, which is a type I’m not familiar with, but the scales look smaller and flatter than python. This may or may not make the snakeskin more durable, but my best guess would be that it would result in less flaking. Also, I just kind of generally like it when a brand uses a snakeskin other than python - it shows a bit of creativity. This bag might be a BIT theme-y for me, but overall, I think it’s theme-y done well.

Miu Miu Distressed Leather Hobo

Ladies and gentlemen, I have posted this bag for one reason and one reason only: to demonstrate a leather-finishing effect that I truly and completely despise. Other than the quasi-shiny effect, I really like the Miu Miu Distressed Leather Hobo. The shape is good, the color is interesting and uncommon, and the handle detail is a nice, subtle touch. If it wasn’t for the infuriatingly terrible finish they put on the leather, I’d be all about this one.
Why in the world do designers EVER do this? It’s somewhere in Leather Effect Purgatory between regular and patent, and it doesn’t do a bag any favors. It mostly has one of the following effects: it makes the leather look like it’s not actually leather, it makes the leather look thin, or it makes the leather look stiff. What it almost ALWAYS does is make the bag look cheap - I see a lot of PVC bags at Target with identical finishes, and whenever I see something like this, that’s always what it brings to mind. A finish like this is also pretty much a guarantee that the bag won’t be soft to the touch. There are few things that you can do to a bag that I like less than what they’ve done to this one, and it’s a really shame - it could have been a winner.

Bottega Veneta Python Fold Over Clutch

Do you ever find yourself thinking about what you would do, where you would go, what you would buy if you were a mega-mega-mega millionaire? To be honest, from time to time I find I let my thoughts wonder and before I know it I am thinking about all the traveling I’d love to do and the fabulous clothes and accessories I could tote. Then usually, I come back down to reality and am reminded of how great it is to dream, but how much better it is to enjoy the life I lead. Ok, enough of “Life Thoughts with Shannon”. When I came across the Bottega Veneta Python Fold Over Clutch, I realized this would be a clutch best left for day dreams.
Yes, it is gorgeous and versatile, but I simply cannot get over the price. The copper python has stitch detailing at the corners, zipped and pouch compartments and is fully lined in suede. Sure, all the materials come together brilliantly. This clutch is nothing less than gorgeous. The shade of copper is perfect for so many seasons and so many outfits I don’t know where to begin. Pair it with a rich-colored dress or perhaps take the more casual approach and let the clutch to the talking. Bottega Veneta, why must you make so many gorgeous handbags with such astronomical price tags? So, ladies and gents, is the bag worth the price?

Marni Printed Canvas Tote

I’ve loved the bags that Marni has put out for Spring/Summer 2009, and I’ve made no secret of it. They’ve chosen great materials and vibrant colors for the line, and it’s the first fresh collection I’ve seen in a while. Mostly what I have praised in the past, though, is their leather choice, and I’ve got something completely different to say today. I really, really love the Marni Printed Canvas Tote.
Their color choice on this bag is impeccable; the muted violets, greens, and mustards go together so well that I find myself wondering if I could find a dress in a similar print. They’re perfectly vintage-feeling without looking old and it’s surprising that a simple tote can have so much inherent style. The only problem, of course, is that the bag is canvas. Sigh. Canvas. Every time I see a canvas bag I like, I’m forced to reevaluate exactly how much I’m willing to spend on one. This one in particular is right on the line for me - $500 is usually my mental upper limit, but for one that I like this much.

Jil Sander Oversized Leather Bag

Sometimes it takes a handbag outsider to remind us how it’s done. All of us bag people can get a little caught up in logos, leather types, and the traditional bag powerhouses at times, but sometimes it’s nice to peer outside that, to people that make clothes first, and then bags, and see what they come up with.

Jil Sander is one of those designers. She’s known more for her overall minimalist aesthetic than her accessories collections, so we don’t cover her often, but her Oversized Leather Bag is nothing short of impressive. In her trademark simplistic color scheme - if you can really call “Black and More Black” a color scheme - Sander has created a functional, grown-up bag for a woman with a self-assured sense of style. An interesting visual point - there is no exposed hardware on this bag (a similar feature of the Fringe Satin Clutch). Even the small buckles attaching the handles are wrapped in black leather, reinforcing the monochromatic, minimalistic look for which Sander is known.

Louis Vuitton Vernis Alma

The most recognized shape from Louis Vuitton is their Speedy, a very iconic bag to the brand. And following the Speedy in popularity is the classic Louis Vuitton Alma. The Alma is one of my favorite bags from Louis Vuitton. The shape is as distinctive as they come in the handbag world. It is a true handheld bag which is perfect for the working woman or the trendy gal. Per usual, the Alma has been recreated in every rendition possible, from tacky to stunning. While the Vernis line has not been a line from LV that I covet, it is a coveted line.

Just in for spring is a wide variety of eye-catching Louis Vuitton Vernis Alma colors, including Blue Galactic, Orange Sunset, Green Tonic, Violette, Pomme d Amour, and Amarante. The names of the colors are completely intriguing. In fact, they describe these bold colors beautifully. The Vernis is known for its liquid-like appearance, the embossed patent leather. There is shiny golden brass hardware to accent the bag along with a removable leather key bell and padlock keys. The Alma closes with double zips at the top. The interior is usable and the Alma keeps its shape beautifully, which makes it a great structured handbag choice. Dimensions are 15.2″x 11.2″x 7.3″. Of course there are other Alma options if the Vernis does not float your boat (as it does not for me). I would go with the classic Epi leather.

Louis Vuitton Monogram Vernis Cosmetic Pouch MM

I’ve been on the look recently for a very tiny pouch or wristlet to use as a clutch. I want something small enough to fit easily in my hand that will hold only the very essentials - house key, car key, ID, cash, phone. But the phone is where I’m hitting an impasse, because I have an enormous Blackberry with an even more enormous clear plastic shell to keep it safe (gotta brag for a minute - it’s one of the new click-screen ones! I love it!). As such, the thing is approximately the size of a small computer, and even if I can find a wristlet into which it fits, nothing else will fit alongside it. So I’ve decided to get a bit creative in my current search, and this morning came across something that could potentially work very well - the Louis Vuitton Monogram Vernis Cosmetic Pouch MM. I realize that it’s meant to hold lipsticks and whatnot inside of a larger bag, but since it doesn’t have cosmetic pouch emblazoned on it anywhere, I doubt anyone would know the difference. Besides, I’m all for repurposing things (kinda of like the tv stand holding the microwave in my kitchen. Ahem). At any rate, it looks like it’s just small enough to fit in my hand while being just big enough to contain my giant brick of a phone, and it zips all the way across the top, lest I drop it or hit anyone in the head with it. Perfect! On top of all that, amarante is my favorite color of LV vernis ever and would go really well with all the black I tend to wear. Now if only LV ever went on sale.

Sonia Rykiel Stud Fringe Handbag

Sonia Rykiel may be best known for her knitwear and her namesake ’90s tune by Malcom McClaren, “Who the Hell is Sonia Rykiel?” Today we are swooning over her stud fringe handbag. Made from the softest buttery letter around, the stud embellished shoulder bag has a long skinny shoulder strap and fringe along the bottom. Our favorite detail is the giant tassel zipper pull. This lovely bag comes in turquoise and black. Sonia Rykiel Stud Fringe Handbag.

Longchamp Imprime Tote

Are you a tattoo person? I’m not. I don’t have any, although it has crossed my mind before. I love them on men - they give an average dude a bit of an edge, and there’s nothing I hate more than an average guy with no edge to be found (well, I don’t hate them, but I’m not attracted to them). The coolest tattoos I’ve ever seen were from an artist who made pixelated images on skin - they were absolutely fascinating. And they were also the first thing I thought of when I saw the Longchamp Imprime Tote.

The bigger issue for me now is trying to decide whether or not that’s the only reason I like it. I love the pixel effect and how it makes the colors bleed into one and other, but in a way that avoids the sloppiness of tie-dye. It gives it a geometric quality that makes it different than a lot of other things I’ve seen recent, and it would probably be a great choice to take to an outdoor event or a day at the park. I don’t adore it on the whole, however, and I definitely wouldn’t plunk down the price that they’re asking for a nylon bag.

Juicy Couture Crown Button Elongated Clutch Wallet

You know, when I first came across this clutch/wallet I was reminded of college. Why? Well, back in college, I was always carrying around a clutch/wallet. I never liked carrying around a handbag when I went to parties or out to campus bars. I was too worried that my handbag would come home smelling like cheap keg beer or simply stated, ruined. So, I bet you can see why the clutch/wallet option seemed best.
Now, back to the real topic at hand. I am really liking the Juicy Couture Crown Button Elongated Clutch Wallet. The color is great. The shape is great. The hardware adds a slightly edgy feel. Clearly, this is something you could grab as you run out of the house on a quick errand, but it wouldn’t be something to carry if you have lots of stuff you need to carry around. Well, you could, but this would just be one of the many things in your larger sized handbag. Of course, I was pleasantly surprised that the clutch/wallet doesn’t have Juicy Couture logo nonsense slapped all over it, but you will find the logo once you open it up; this I can live with.

Bulga Butterfly Bag

Ok, I know. Two handbags in a row sporting a similar color. I usually try to switch it up (with the exception of black bags, since there are oh so many to choose from), but when I saw this bag, I couldn’t help myself. The Bulga Butterfly Bag is a knockout. That’s right folks, I said it, a knockout! We all have become more than familiar with fringe bags and I was instantly pleased with the splash of fringe added to this bag. The studding is stellar and the color is perfect for spring.
While the color is listed as green, I think it looks more like sea green, you know, a softer hue. I’m also loving the shoulder strap. From time to time, I find a bag where the strap looks so comfortable that I want nothing more than to try it on. More than anything I think I am drawn to this bag due to the great color and accent combination. While the color is soft, the fringe and studs add a hint of punk to the bag. Yet, if the color is not for you, fear not, you can pick up the same look in pink or brown.

Jimmy Choo Manda Suede Bag

In general, I hate being called by nicknames. Mandy. Manda. All kind of annoying, all not my name. There have been very few people in my life who have gotten away with calling me either, and no one currently has the privilege. I’d like to keep it that way. I don’t mind calling other things by those names, though, and I’m completely fine with the Jimmy Choo Manda Suede Bag.
In fact, I can’t believe I haven’t written about it already. I’ve expressed previously that I like the way that Choo has mixed leather and suede in many of their recent bags, and I think a deep color like navy blue demonstrates the difference between the two fabric types to great effect.
Navy is dark, but my favorite color to wear in spring and summer is white, and nothing looks better with white than navy. As a result, it works as a spring bag, even though it’s dark and partly suede, and I think that the folks at Jimmy Choo have pulled off a very clever trick by realizing that. Of course, navy also works really well for fall, meaning that a bag like the Manda is one of the few purses I’ve seen lately that will actually work year-round. It’s a bit expensive, but if it’s wearable beyond a few months of the year, it’s money well-spent. Just don’t call me Manda.

Lanvin Calisson Woven Satin Bag

I find myself often thinking about whether or not a non-leather bag can be worth big bucks. I’ve come to varying conclusions - if it’s covered in Swarovski, then maybe. If it’s entirely handmade, maybe. If it’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, maybe. And despite the fact that I really like the Lanvin Calisson Woven Satin Bag, I don’t think I could pay $2600 for something made of such a delicate fabric.

In this case, I think the large size of the bag makes me even less likely to pay the big bucks - a big bag is an even bigger liability in a material that’s that likely to be damaged. It’s too big to be coddled and saved for special occasions, and an everyday bag needs to be durable and usable. Satin is the wrong material on the wrong bag in this case, and if it was soft, woven lamb leather instead, I’d be here telling you how brilliant it is.

Marni Leather Fold-Over Clutch

I’ve written about this on PurseBlog Savvy before, but I have serious problems finding evening bags. I don’t want to waste money on something by a brand I don’t trust, but I also don’t want to waste money on a non-leather bag from a brand that I do. I feel like a chump paying big bucks for a small satin bag, no matter how cute, but leather is usually too casual for evening. The Marni Leather Fold-Over Clutch probably falls into the trap of being too casual, but only because of it’s bigger size. If it was more petite, it’d be the perfect leather evening bag.
The leather that Marni has used this season has really impressed me, and you should really try and see it in person. It’s soft and slouchy, but so smooth that it doesn’t look sloppy at all. I’m not sure how they found the perfect type of leather to straddle that line, but it does a beautiful job. Because of the material used and how it’s draped, it mimics a thick silk that would be great for evening without requiring me to shell out for a silk bag. Every woman should own a bright-colored clutch (they’re more versatile than you’d imagine!), and this one would be a great place to start.

Yes, it has been said in the past that your handbag must match your shoes and your shoes must match your belt, and so on. But this is not at all true these days. Yes, it is true that your handbag should match your shoes in style, but not necessarily in color. For instance, you probably do not want to carry your fur handbag while wearing flip flops (although, it could be quite a fashion statement), but a Christian Dior handbags would look great with some classy black heels

History of the Ugg

In 1978 Australian surfer Brian Smith brought a bag of sheepskin boots to the states with the hopes of selling them.1 While surfers bought into the boot idea, it wasn't until 1995 that Deckers Outdoor Corporation helped create the Ugg Brand. By 1998, celebrities, as well as the mainstream, saw the boot as a high-end luxury item therefore becoming a hot sought after boot. The surge continued with Oprah Winfrey featured the Ugg Ultra Boot as one of "Oprah's Favorite Things" in 2000 and again in 2007, Oprah featured their latest Ugg Crochet Boots as a Hot Christmas item. For ten years the Ugg boot has remained a popular item in the U.S. with waiting lists to still purchase some of the more sought after styles.
